At a reception for Ambassador Knapper after the presentation of the letter of credentials, President Nguyen said the comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and the U.S. has developed in an extensive and practical manner, with the two-way trade reaching a new record of US$111 billion last year.
Nguyen took the occasion to extend thanks to the U.S. for donating 24.6 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam as well as its support and assistance for the Southeast Asian country in overcoming war consequences and adapting to climate change.

During his reception for Mexican Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz, President Nguyen expressed his pleasure at the positive development of the Viet Nam-Mexico relations over the past time.
Mexico is Viet Nam's second largest trade partner in Latin America, with the two-way trade volume of nearly US$5.2 billion, according to Nguyen.
He emphasized that Viet Nam will coordinate closely with Mexico to foster bilateral cooperation in such fields like defense, finance, customs, agriculture and education.
The same day, President Nguyen hosted a reception for Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam, during which the former urged both sides to soon recognize each other's vaccine passports in a bid to facilitate travels between the two countries.
