The export volume of fresh Vietnamese lychees to China through the Tan Thanh border gate in Lang Son province has enjoyed a significant increase over recent days, indicating a positive sign for traders, enterprises, and lychee growers in Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces.

Lang Son has seen a six-fold increase in the number of vehicles transporting fresh lychees through the Tan Thanh border gate in comparison to the start of the harvest season, with the overall export quantity of lychees accounting for two-thirds of the country’s agricultural items exported to China.

Hoang Thi Thieu Hoa, Deputy Head of the Tan Thanh Customs Office under the Lang Son Customs Department, said it usually only takes two minutes to complete the necessary customs clearance procedures for export businesses.

According to the Tan Thanh Customs Department, approximately 13,500 tonnes of fresh lychees have been exported to China since the start of the lychee season, with export turnover reaching an estimated US$3.5 million.

At present, lychees exported to the northern neighbour through the Tan Thanh border gate have been sold for between VND22,000 and VND25,000 per kilo.

The strong level of consumption for fresh lychee products in the Chinese market has been a positive sign for items coming from Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces during the harvest season.

At present, Vietnamese authorities have created optimal conditions for Chinese traders to lychee growing areas to buy the products, with novel coronavirus prevention and control measures being ensured in line with existing regulations.
