VGP – The socio-economic subcommittee held a conference to collect comments of former leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front on the ten-year socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030 and the development plan for 2021-2025.

The event drew the attendance member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, the National Assembly's Permanent Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, former State President Tran Duc Luong, former PM Nguyen Tan Dung, former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Sinh Hung, the former Secretaries of Ha Noi and HCMC Party Commitees.

Addressing the event, PM Phuc expressed the aspiration to listen to comments of the former leaders who have abundant experience in Party and State management and regulation. 

PM Phuc,who is the also the head of the socio-economic subcommittee, stressed that the body fully acknowledges the heavy and great responsibilities for crafting the strategy and plan on the basis of collecting comments from people, researchers, scientists, especially the former leaders. 

The Government chief quoted a series of comments from international organizations, leaders, domestic and foreign researchers including “getting old before rich,” development gap, and the threat of lagging behind regional and other countries in terms of incomes, living standards, scientific and technological levels, productivity, and competitiveness. 

Domestic and foreign requirements have pressed Viet Nam to accelerate the renovation process in a sustainable and effective manner, said PM Phuc. 

Hence, the PM tasked the socio-economic committee to set strategic norms, breakthroughs, orientations, and measures for the next five, ten years with a vision towards 2045. 

The Government leader said that the socio-economic subcommittee has convened five plenary sessions; conducted 42 thematic researches on different fields namely economics, society, environment, administrative reform, national defense, security, and diplomacy; and held six conferences to collect comments in order to release the fifth version of draft strategy./.
