Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted reception on Tuesday evening to welcome both the national male and female football squads who have won gold medals at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.

Speaking at the reception, PM Phuc said the double victory came as a result of solidarity and determination of the two teams, reflecting the players' patriotism.
The wins will also inspire the national development process, the Government chief said.

The women's football team, trained by head coach Mai Duc Chung,
defeated Thailand at the final match to claim the 6th gold medal so far.

PM Phuc especially spoke highly of the excellent talents of head coaches Park Hang-seo and Mai Duc Chung who have whole-heartedly devoted themselves to bring glory to all Vietnamese people.

We won the gold medals because we have excellent coaches and burning desire for victory, Phuc said.

He called for continued efforts to foster youth football coaching and to design better policies for athletes, coaches and relevant staff.
Phuc also took the occasion to extend thanks to parents of the athletes for their efforts to educate their offsprings, to football clubs for their efforts in youth football training, to individuals like Doan Nguyen Duc-Chairman of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai football club as well as sponsors who have made great contributions to the football development in Viet Nam.
