Panasonic Vietnam gifts online learning tools and bookshelves for 15 schools

From March 22-29, the company has been gifting tools for online learning as well as sustainable bookshelves with selected books on science and the environment to 15 schools in diverse localities across Vietnam.

The donation programme was the final in a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that Panasonic Vietnam, part of Japanese tech giant Pasanonic Corporation, has initiated in the past year to mark the important occasion.

According to Marukawa Yoichi, general director of Panasonic Vietnam, the main purpose of this donation programme has been to show sincere appreciation to local provinces in which the company has its manufacturing facilities.

“Panasonic, since its original establishment over 100 years ago, knows human resources is our core competence as well as the highest asset, and that’s why we continuously invest in its development,” said Yoichi. “We understand that students, who are the future assets for Vietnamese sustainable development, suffered along with others during the pandemic. Despite our challenges in terms of business operations, Panasonic decided to help those students to accelerate online learning, and also to support teachers to educate them about the importance of environmental protection.”

He emphasised that the Japanese brand will continue its firm commitment and strong passion to contribute to the wellness of Vietnamese society through its business and CSR activities over the next 50 years.

Addressing the activities, Nguyen Thi Tam, Deputy Chairman of Dong Anh People’s Committee said, “The donation from Panasonic will help us to better equip students in online learning and have better IT conditions for diverse practical programmes following the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training. In addition, the donated books will support students in learning about the environment, science, and more to contribute to the sustainable development of Dong Anh district and of Vietnam as a whole.”

In 2021, to celebrate its 50-year anniversary in Vietnam, Panasonic conducted various programmes in health, education, and the environment. Some highlights include the donation and installation of 261 air conditioners for three major hospitals in Hanoi; and collaboration with Grab by providing air quality solutions on 150 GrabCar medical vehicles and providing free rides for medical staff and patients during pandemic prevention efforts.

The company also planted 110,000 forest trees in Son Duong district of the northern province of Tuyen Quang through the annual “Panasonic for a green Vietnam” programme, as well as granting 15 scholarships to excellent students at universities across the country.

Panasonic Vietnam is the first wholly foreign-owned company to assume the role of country headquarters in Vietnam. The group currently employs approximately 7,000 people.
