At a seminar held by the Newspaper of Industry and Trade (Bao Cong Thuong) on November 22 to discuss ways to promote Vietnamese goods in the digital age through e-commerce, Le Duc Anh, Director of the Center for Information and Digital Technology under the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, emphasized that the National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday program has reflected the Government’s bridging role in managing and fostering sustainable e-commerce development. The program aims to create a platform connecting businesses, linking manufacturers with infrastructure providers, sellers with consumers, and fostering an environment conducive to business operations. Additionally, the program helps promote Vietnamese brands, strengthening their presence in the market.
Since its inception in 2014, Online Friday has attracted the participation of major online businesses. In 2023, activities and videos marking the 10-year milestone of the program at Hoan Kiem Lake attracted a large crowd and garnered over one billion views across online platforms. Notably, on TikTok, the program launched a short video shopping challenge using the Online Friday app with the hashtags #onlinefriday and #muasamcuoituan.
Nearly 200 media outlets nationwide have supported the program, spreading its messages and meaning to businesses and consumers. National broadcasting agencies and online platforms have extensively covered in-depth interviews, diverse viewpoints from government officials, participating enterprises, and consumers benefiting from the event.
