Norwegian seafood, especially salmon, has been increasingly popular and chosen by many Vietnamese consumers.

According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, the Vietnamese market posted the highest seafood import growth from Norway in Southeast Asia in the 2020 - 2023 period, reaching 113%. This figure surpasses Thailand (103%) and is 4 times higher than the average growth rate of the region (30%).

Since the beginning of 2024, Norway has witnessed an impressive growth in the Vietnamese market with over 21,300 tonnes of seafood, worth about 80 million USD, up 21% in quantity and 28% in value. Vietnam has emerged as an important market for Norwegian seafood.

Norway is currently facing challenges in the global market in the first months of 2024 with a 15% decline in volume and no increase in value. The impressive figures in the Vietnamese market demonstrate the importance of Vietnam as a strategic partner in maintaining and expanding Norway’s seafood exports.

The Norwegian Seafood Council and WinCommerce recently signed a cooperation agreement, officially licensing the use of “Seafood from Norway” brand on all imported seafood product packaging imported from Norway at WinMart supermarket chains nationwide.
