Northern provinces of Vietnam are poised to face a cold spell between November 23 and 25, bringing with it plenty of fog coupled with falling temperatures.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the start of the cold spell will be felt in northern provinces from November 23 to November 24. Following this, the weather pattern will move further to the north-central and central regions the following days.

Along with plummeting temperatures, areas throughout the northern region are expected to endure spells of rain, along with temperatures falling to between four and eight degrees Celsius on average.

A number of mountainous areas could potentially witness temperatures drop to as low as 13 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in some places are even forecast to fall below 10 degrees Celsius.

This cold spell is also anticipated to affect the country’s north-central and central regions, both of which are expected to endure heavy rainfall for at least two days.

Due to the impact of the La Nina phenomenon, cold air tends to arrive early leading to temperatures to be much lower in comparison to previous years.

Vietnam is expected to welcome spells of cold air between December 2020 and February 2021, with temperatures set to be lower than in other years.
