Situated on the outskirts on Hanoi, Noi Bai International Airport is largely left quiet throughout the day due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially when the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet, is drawing near.

Only a few cars and people can be seen at Terminal 1 (T1) taking domestic flights, a huge contrast compared to previous days.

Check-in counters are not as crowded as one would expect at this time of year.

Passengers wait for their flights, although they aren’t forced to endure large crowds as normal.

A few passengers can be seen catching a taxi home. Recent days has seen a sharp decrease in flights due to the fresh outbreak of the coronavirus in Vietnam.

With fewer taxis in operation, passengers must spend more time catching one.

Ticket booths outbound flights have largely been left deserted.

There are no visitors to souvenir shops.

A restaurant located at the airport receives very few visitors.

Due to the severe reduction in flights, only the occasional staff member can be seen there.
