The two projects, scheduled to be located in Po To commune, have received in-principle approvals from the provincial People's Committee, said a leader of the Investment Promotion Center under Gia Lai's Department of Finance.
Specifically, the high-tech pig farming project will cover more than 106 hectares and involve the development of a farm raising sows and fattening pigs under a closed-loop production model.
The farm will have a designed capacity of around 16,200 sows and 209,000 fattening pigs per cycle, with 2.17 cycles per year. The project has total investment capital of VND3.1 trillion ($118.3 million), including VND930 billion in investor equity and VND2.17 trillion in mobilized capital.
Under the plan, the company will complete investment procedures and begin construction in the third or fourth quarter of 2026, with construction expected to take one year. The project is scheduled to begin production in the first quarter of 2028.
Meanwhile, the animal feed manufacturing project will cover more than 6.5 hectares and produce livestock feed, complete compound feed, powdered feed, pelleted feed and premixes, with an annual production capacity of 360,000 tons.
The feed plant has total investment capital of VND515 billion ($19.65 million), including VND154.5 billion in investor equity and VND360.5 billion in mobilized capital. The project is also expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2028.
Notably, the approval of the two projects by Thinh Phat-Muyuan Gia Lai came about four months after Chairman of the Gia Lai People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan inspected the planned sites in Po To commune.
During the inspection, Tuan stressed that Gia Lai would continue to create favorable conditions for sustainable projects, particularly in areas where the province has strengths, such as agriculture, processing, and high-tech agriculture.
However, he also required the projects to ensure a balance of interests, with the company fulfilling its financial obligations and contributing to infrastructure reinvestment and improvements in the livelihoods of people in the project area.
At a conference on July 14 reviewing Gia Lai's socio-economic performance in the first half of 2026 and outlining key tasks for the second half, Liu Bo, CEO of Muyuan Vietnam Co., Ltd., said the company would strive to break ground on both projects on October 11, 2026, if provincial authorities support efforts to accelerate the necessary procedures.
Beyond the two projects, Thinh Phat-Muyuan Gia Lai also plans to invest in an export-oriented meat processing plant in the province in the coming years.
Earlier, at the 2026 Gia Lai Investment Promotion Conference, Muyuan Vietnam Co., Ltd. received a memorandum of understanding for an investment project to develop a modern pig farming system combined with an animal feed plant, with proposed investment capital of VND6.58 trillion ($251.1 million).
