The Ministry of Health confirmed additional 10,011 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the national caseload to 756,689.

The latest patients are all domestic infections recorded in 35 cities and provinces: Ho Chi Minh City (5,121), Binh Duong (3,332), Dong Nai (746), Long An (171), Kien Giang (99), An Giang (81), Tien Giang (63), Can Tho (52), Dak Lak (49), Ha Nam (49), Khanh Hoa (38), Tay Ninh (37), Binh Phuoc (27), Quang Binh (24), Gia Lai (17), Binh Dinh (14), Ninh Thuan (12), Dong Thap (10), Binh Thuan (9), Da Nang (8 ), Phu Yen (7), Hau Giang (6), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (5), Bac Lieu (5), Quang Tri (4), Ca Mau (3), Dak Nong (3), Vinh Long (3), Quang Ngai (3), Nghe An (3), Lam Dong (2), Quang Nam (2), Thua Thien-Hue (2), Thanh Hoa (2), and Ha Noi (2).

The national tally includes 752,185 locally transmitted cases documented in 62 cities and provinces since the resurgence of COVID-19 wave in late April.

Sixteen out of the aforesaid localities have gone 14 days without a single new infection: Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, and Lang Son.

Localities hit hardest by the current COVID-19 wave are Ho Chi Minh City (371,660), Binh Duong (200,196), Dong Nai (45,667), Long An (31,789), and Tien Giang (13,787), all in southern Viet Nam.

The same day, the ministry reported 11,477 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 527,926, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the national count.

It also announced further 184 fatalities, raising the nation’s COVID-19 death toll to 18,584.

So far Viet Nam has administered 38,367,246 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 30,420,963 people receiving first jab and 7,946,283 people getting fully vaccinated./.
