The intention was disclosed during a meeting last Thursday between representatives of Capital A, T&T Group, and Le Duc Tien, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri People’s Committee.
During the meeting, the business delegation reviewed the province’s investment incentives, workforce availability, geographic advantages, and development plans for logistics, particularly in relation to the under-construction Quang Tri airport.
Tien, for his part, encouraged the two companies to consider investing in the Quang Tri aviation industrial complex and related segments such as commercial aviation services, aircraft maintenance, logistics, e-commerce, tourism, and other service industries.
The proposed aviation industrial complex is envisioned as an integrated investment ecosystem, aiming to support the development of a comprehensive aviation-logistics network and strengthen the regional connectivity between Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, and Thailand.
The province will consider forming an aviation-logistics service industrial park and adjusting planning to upgrade Quang Tri airport to match its long-term development orientation in the future, the official added.
In July 2024, T&T Group and Cienco 4 broke ground on the Quang Tri airport project, which spans 265 hectares in Gio Quang, Gio Hai, and Gio Mai communes of Gio Linh district.
With a total investment capital of VND5.8 trillion ($228.3 million), the airport will be developed to meet the standards of a level 4C airport defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and a level II military airport, with the capability to accommodate code E aircraft for parking.
It is designed to have a capacity of five million passengers per year and handle a cargo capacity of 25,500 tons annually. The construction is slated to be completed in July 2026.
