Launching the digital workforce platform for IT human resources

On June 21, the National Innovation Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, together with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organised a workshop on the future of jobs in the digital economy and launched a training partnership scheme to provide numerous courses to teachers across the country.

They will cover various sectors including cybersecurity, Python programming, cloud computing, and AI, as well as develop digital workforce platforms available at nhanlucso.org.vn or nhanlucso.com.vn.

Vietnam is facing a significant shortage of human resources, both in quantity and quality, for occupations related to the ICT sector. As the nation is promoting the National Strategy on the Fourth Industrial Revolution by 2030, the need to narrow and eliminate this gap has become more urgent than ever.

Vu Quoc Huy, NIC director, said that the digital workforce platform would provide the most important general knowledge about the job market, thereby orienting the career development trends for young people. Employers will also be able to adjust their plans and use labour resources more effectively and appropriately in response to fluctuations in the labour market.

Nguyen Khanh Cam Chau, programme management specialist and digital development advisor at USAID Vietnam, said that Vietnam has some Industry 4.0 opportunities based on the abundance of a creative workforce. However, due to the large gap between supply and demand in terms of digital skills, the country's human resources need retraining and enhancing to meet the needs of the digital economy.

At the workshop, experts from prestigious recruitment agencies and tech companies discussed the main issues, including how new technologies influence the job market, and how young people need to prepare to adapt to these changes.

The panellists came from government agencies, tech companies (FPT, Fsoft, Omnilab, and GotitAI), research organisations, human resources and recruitment companies (Navigos, TopCV, and JobHopins), and training institutions (BKACAD, VietAI, and FUNiX).
