During the meeting, the two ministers discussed cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries and agreed on solutions to strengthen and promote cooperation in this field.
Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov affirmed that Kazakhstan always values and considers Vietnam as an important partner in agriculture and agricultural cooperation development. He also informed that farming and livestock are the two most developed economic sectors of Kazakhstan, providing food for the entire country. In particular, Kazakhstan is one of the leading food producers in Central Asia, notably in grain, wheat and meat production.

Not only that, Kazakhstan is very interested in providing cereals, flour, meat and dairy products to Vietnam, as well as cooperating with Vietnam in breeding new rice varieties as well as importing seafood.
Minister Saparov also emphasized that agriculture is a strategic sector to both economies. Kazakhstan sees potential for increased cooperation, especially considering the complementarity nature between the two countries agricultural systems. Therefore, he proposed that the two countries need to continue to open markets for products under the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union to continue to flow.
Agreeing with Minister Saparov’s proposal, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that the MoIT will coordinate with the Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to create the most favorable conditions to promote Kazakh agricultural export in the Vietnamese market.
Minister Dien said that Vietnam has strengths in tropical fruits and vegetables, rice, coffee, cashew, tea, seafood... Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has advantages in agricultural products that are rare in Vietnam, such as: lamb, beef, livestock products, wheat, flour...
“The structure of the two countries' exports do not compete, but complement each other. Therefore, there is still a lot of room for the two countries’ businesses to further develop and promote mutual investment in agriculture" - Minister Dien said. In the coming time, the minister suggested that the two countries should focus on promoting trade in agricultural products that are beneficial and complementary to each other. They include: rice, seafood, vegetables, tea, pepper, cashew nuts, wood, wood products and rubber from Vietnam; and wheat, cassava, vegetables, agricultural machines from Kazakhstan.
On this occasion, Minister Dien sent an invitation to Kazakh businesses to Vietnam to explore investment opportunities and further cooperate in agriculture. The Government, ministries, sectors, and local authorities of Vietnam always believe that "The success of foreign investors in Vietnam is the success of Vietnam and vice versa".
Also during the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and Minister Aidarbek Saparov discussed, proposed many solutions to remove difficulties for bilateral trade activities, especially in transportation, freight transport and logistics etc... They also agreed to develop measures in order to ensure smooth rail, sea and air transportation between the two countries, which will further boost trade turnovers.
The two ministers also agreed to boost trade promotion and exchange business delegations to increase understanding of the two countries’ markets; as well as to encourage business participatation in fairs, exhibitions and to implement specific cooperation activities within the signed framework.
Duong Hoang Minh - Trade Counselor to the Vietnam Trade Office in the Russian Federation concurrently with Kazakhstan, believed that through the visit and working session, the relationship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan will be strengthened, opening up new hope in bilateral relations.
Notably, according to the Trade Counselor, there will be new cooperation prospects for agricultural export after the 11th session of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Committee, especially when Vietnam already has so many advantages in this field. "A number of large enterprises in Vietnam have been investing in Kazakhstan, such as: Sovico Group, VietjetAir Airlines, Vingroup Corporation, ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company..." -Duong Hoang Minh informed. He also expected that after the session, the two countries’ businesses will find more cooperation opportunities, especially in the agricultural sector.
Additionally, to further promote agriculture cooperation, Vietnam and Kazakhstan will hold the second meeting of the Subcommittee on Agriculture at the end of 2024. This meeting will ensure the technology transfer of Vietnam's rice growing to Kazakhstan, and research cooperation in the field of selective breeding and seed production between the two countries.
