Israeli Ambassador Nadav Eshcar presented the donation to Nguyen Manh Hung, CEO of Thai Ha Books and the sponsor of the installation of the free rice dispenser, known as a rice ATM.
The gift marks the first rice donation given by a foreign diplomatic agency for the purpose of helping those affected by the pandemic. Moreover, it also demonstrates Israel’s multi-year commitment to providing relief to those in need across the nation via both formal and voluntary projects.
The Israeli diplomat highlighted how the rice donation serves as an opportunity for Israel to offer something to the Vietnamese community and delivered sincere thanks to the country for helping both his family and staff at the Israeli embassy live in a safe environment in the capital city.
He also delivered praise to the nation for being an exemplary model in the fight against the pandemic and suggested that the country could share its experience in COVID-19 response with the international community.
