Cybersecurity and the protection of personal data have become hot topics in recent times. At the same time, the rapid development of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI) brings both opportunities and unpredictable challenges. Recognizing this situation, the Israeli Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam organized a workshop and networking session to enhance digital defense in the face of increasing risks. The event aimed to provide an overview of cybersecurity and share real-life cases and solutions implemented in Israel for Vietnam. Additionally, this event creates opportunities and challenges for Vietnam to develop and excel in the future.
At the seminar, Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Yaron Mayer shared: "This is the first cybersecurity conference organized since 2019. I am delighted to see the growing relationship between our two countries, not only in politics, agriculture, and trade but also in the economic sphere. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Israel, especially in the context of the impending signing of the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA), which will further enhance our trade cooperation."

Alongside the participation of Mr. Robert Trong Tran, Consulting Deputy General Director – Cyber & Technology Risk Leader, Ernst & Young Vietnam gave an overview of the cybersecurity landscape in Vietnam was unveiled during an engaging workshop. Over the past year, EY Vietnam conducted research and discovered that many businesses in the APAC region are undergoing digital transformation, while simultaneously facing a severe shortage of talent in the field of information security. Particularly concerning is the situation in Vietnam, where despite the presence of numerous technology companies, they are not adequately prepared to handle cybersecurity attacks.
The APAC region is experiencing the highest number of attacks, especially in the finance, energy, and insurance sectors. The integration of artificial intelligence into the household items we use, which is constantly evolving, poses inherent risks that can jeopardize our personal cybersecurity. This issue is not only a pressing concern for Vietnam but also a shared worry among all countries worldwide in terms of cybercrime, lack of awareness and education regarding cybersecurity, insufficient infrastructure and resources, rapidly changing emerging technologies, and a lack of senior management with a deep understanding of security.

Vietnam has significant opportunities in the field of cybersecurity. Developing cybersecurity services, including security solutions and system testing, can create new business prospects and protect enterprises from complex cyber threats. Training and educating cybersecurity professionals are crucial for raising awareness and building capabilities to combat cyber attacks. Vietnam can also meet the growing demand for information security and data protection by developing cybersecurity software and hardware solutions.
Additionally, cyber insurance can help mitigate risks and safeguard businesses from financial and reputational losses due to cybersecurity breaches. By seizing these opportunities, Vietnam can enhance its cybersecurity services, train professionals, produce software and hardware, receive government support, and invest in cyber insurance, ultimately ensuring cybersecurity for businesses and society in the digital era.The event was part of the activities carried out by the Israeli business delegation during their visit to Vietnam.
