Ho Chi Minh City has set a target of increasing its export turnover by an average of 10-11% annually during 2026-2030, while raising the share of processed and manufactured industrial products in exports to more than 90%.

The city also aims for more than 75% of exported goods to reach markets covered by free trade agreements (FTAs).

The city’s goods export turnover increased from $40.2 billion in 2020 to $92.6 billion in 2025, accounting for around 20% of Vietnam’s total exports despite multiple global crises, according to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach, deputy head of the International Economy Division under the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

Processed and manufactured industrial products currently account for 76.7% of the city’s exports, while agriculture, forestry and fisheries make up 15.9%.

The United States accounts for about 25% of Ho Chi Minh City’s total exports, followed by China at 15.1% and the European Union at 14.3%.
