After nearly two months of trial operations, on September 22, Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi officially held an opening ceremony, with chairman of Lotte Group (in South Korea) Shin Dong-bin attending.

“With the total investment of $643 million, this is a key project of Lotte Group in Vietnam. Since the land was handed over in 2016, we have mobilised all the member companies and resources of the group to pour and develop the project,” said chairman Shin.

He said that Lotte now had 19 companies operating in Vietnam since the first present in 1996.

"We are committed to accompanying Vietnam in the next development," he said.

Spanning 7.3 hectares, Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi mega complex includes a commercial centre, and three 23-store buildings for hotel, offices and serviced apartments. Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi is expected to become a new symbolic building of the capital and a favourite destination of Hanoi residents and foreign tourists.

The mall will see the well-known brands setting foot in Vietnam for the first time such as Karl Lagerfeld, Maison Margiela, Foot Locker, Rockport, Camper, Marimekko, and Fred Perry.

Come Home – the furniture showroom newly-developed by Central Retail Vietnam also sees the mall as an ideal location for the first launch.

Additionally, many of the world’s foremost fashion and cosmetics brands like Marks & Spencer, Uniqlo, Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, Estee Lauder, Sulwhasoo, YSL, Dior, and Chanel have a space in the mall. These brands are all new store models with large-scale investment, possessing luxurious space to show off numerous product lines for a premium shopping experience.

The diverse and unique culinary space is also a highlight with renowned South Korean restaurants that are first appearing in Vietnam such as Ten Thousand, Table Star, Leechadol, Hanwadam, and Sura.

Moreover, the mall has a large area on the fourth floor for a special complex called Culture Avenue. This is the first time an unlimited creative entertainment complex has appeared in a shopping centre in Vietnam, including art and craft brands like Crabit Notebuck, Note - The Scent Lab, Flower of Hand, Cheapie Art, Nguyen Art Gallery, and especially Nha Nam - the largest bookstore in the country with a modern open space.

The biggest Lotte supermarket ever is also located in this mega complex that is attracting many shoppers thanks to many new and attractive products.

“The opening and operation of Lotte Mall not only confirms the strength and vision of Lotte Group, but is also a symbol of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, and between the two capitals, Hanoi and Seoul," said Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee.

He proposed that Lotte Group continue to invest and operate the project well, to bring more added value and meet the needs of consumers, as well as expanding investment into other areas in Hanoi.

Currently, Lotte has seven projects in Hanoi, including the 65-storey Lotte Centre building located on Lieu Giai street.
