The Ministry of Health confirmed 3,964 new infection cases this evening, raising the COVID-19 patient tally on Wednesday to 8,766. 

The latest patients consist of four imported cases and 3,960 domestic infections in 26 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City (1,288), Binh Duong (961), Dong Nai (551), Long An (448), Dong Thap (176), Can Tho (103), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (79), Khanh Hoa (61), Da Nang (56), Binh Thuan (41), An Giang (39), Ha Noi (37), Phu Yen (33), Binh Phuoc (19), Ninh Thuan (19), Nghe An (14), Thanh Hoa (13), Quang Ngai (5), Hai Duong (4), Quang Nam (4), Ha Tinh (2), Nam Dinh (2), Bac Lieu (2), Thua Thien-Hue (1), Quang Tri (1), and Ca Mau (1).

Of the domestic cases, 651 were detected in the community.

These new cases bring the national caseload to 236,091, including 232,950 locally-transmitted cases confirmed since April 27.

The ministry announced 4,806 patients were discharged from hospitals the same day, taking the total recoveries to 85,154.

It also reported further 342 fatalities in nine localities namely Ho Chi Minh City (261), Can Tho (24), Binh Duong (22), Dong Nai (11), Dong Thap (10), Long An (10), Tien Giang (2), Da Nang (1), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (1), sending the death toll to 4,487./.
