The Ministry of Health confirmed 46 new COVID-19 cases , including 40 local infections on Friday afternoon, bringing the national caseload to 3,137.

The community-transmitted cases were recorded in Ha Noi (24), Hai Duong (one), Dien Bien (one), Ha Nam (one), Nghe An (one), Hung Yen (four), Nam Dinh (one), Da Nang (five), Phu Tho (one), and Vinh Phuc (one).
Among the aforesaid cases, 11 were detected at the Ha Noi-based cancer hospital which was locked down from 5:30 a.m. this morning.
Meanwhile the others are imported cases, including two returning from the Philippines, two from Japan, and one from Singapore. The rest entered Viet Nam via Lao Bao border gate in the central province of Quang Tri.
Viet Nam is experiencing the fourth wave of community transmissions, which is more complex than the previous three waves due to concurrent emergence of multiple outbreaks, multiple transmission sources, and multiple variants.
Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said testing is the only way to detect infections, thus localities have been repeatedly asked to increase their testing capacity and stay proactive in testing, using various methods./.
