The Ministry of Health confirmed 159 COVID-19 cases on Thursday morning, raising the national caseload to 11,794.

The latest patients include a 25-year-old Vietnamese woman repatriated from Japan on June 2.
All the others are domestic infections recorded in Bac Giang (87), Ho Chi Minh City (45), Tien Giang (11), Binh Duong (7), Bac Ninh (6), Lang Son (1), and Ha Tinh (1). Of these, 156 were detected in quarantine sites or lockdown areas.
Viet Nam has experienced four COVID-19 waves, with the current one starting from April 27, 2020 and spreading to 40 localities, in which Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh are the current biggest hotspots.
Among the aforesaid localities, 24 cities and provinces have gone 14 days without new community infection case: Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Nam Dinh, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Tay Ninh, Gia Lai, Bac Lieu, Dien Bien, Dak Lak, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh, and Da Nang.
Over the period, the Southeast Asian country has conducted 2,249,313 tests for 4,999,746 turns of people as part of its measures to detect suspected cases early.
As of 4:00 pm on June 16, the country administered 1,773,297 out of nearly 2.9 million vaccine doses to local residents, of whom 72,325 have been fully vaccinated./.
