During a February 28 reception for the German guest,  Nhan described the establishment and effective operation of the Vietnam-Germany University as evidence for both sides’ effective cooperation in education and training, adding that HCM City always takes heed to the university’s development and supports the opening of the second German university in Vietnam.

Minister Angela Dorn, in turn, voiced her hope that Hessen State and Ho Chi Minh City will continue bolstering bilateral collaboration, and turn the two sides’ aspirations into specific projects across multiple fields, especially in culture and education.

She said she is greatly impressed by positive results Vietnam has yielded in the fight against the acute respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), and affirmed that her state has the strength in biochemical research and is willing to receive Vietnamese postgraduates, including those from Ho Chi Minh City, to do research on the coronavirus and vaccine and drugs against COVID-19.

There are currently 169 German-invested projects worth more than US$300 million in the southern metropolis. Over the past years, the city and the German state have carried out a host of cooperative activities in trade, culture and education.
