A scheme aimed at stimulating domestic tourism demand was officially unveiled in Ho Chi Minh City on June 9 in respond to the ‘Vietnamese people travel in Vietnam’ campaign previously launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The stimulus plan will begin from June and is set to run until the end of the year. In total, it will feature approximately 260 tour packages with 280,000 preferential tickets on offer with huge discounts of between 10% and 70%, according to Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism.

Along with hefty discounts, the southern city also launched a range of new tourism products whilst moving to introduce the region’s cultural heritages and cuisine in an attempt to enhance the experience of visitors, in addition to offering tour packages at competitive prices.

Local businesses and leaders from different localities are set to participate in the scheme, which demonstrates the determination that firms have to strengthen connectivity in an effort to develop inter-regional new products, said Vu.

Vu The Binh, vice chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said that due to the implementation of strict regulations on epidemic prevention and control, the tourism industry is expected to focus on stimulating domestic tourism. Indeed, businesses are being encouraged to persuade consumers to go with quality local products as opposed to low-cost ones.

The event also saw the tourism stimulus website, www.kichcaudulichtphcm.vn, launched in order to provide visitors with sufficient and updated information with regard to promotional packages on offer from tourism businesses.

The website is also directly connected to those of businesses and is linked to social networking sites in an attempt to increase interactions between visitors and service providers.
