The first cold spell of the winter has forced the residents of Hanoi to wrap up in an extra layer of clothing in an effort to stay warm amid the arrival of chilly weather conditions. 

With the capital forecast to endure temperatures of between 15 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius, local people must dig into their wardrobes before heading out in order to retrieve a coat for the cold weather.

The first cold period of the winter has hit much of the northern and north-central region, including Hanoi, with temperatures dropping to as low as 15 degrees Celsius at night before rising to 23 degrees Celsius during the day. Elsewhere, temperatures in mountainous area have fallen particularly low to below 10 degrees Celsius.
