Receiving newly-accredited Lao ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang in Hanoi on June 18, Hue affirmed Hanoi is ready to create the most favorable conditions for the Lao Embassy to carry out its activities in the city.
Hue informed his guest of the capital's socio-economic situation, saying the COVID-19 epidemic caused Hanoi’s economic growth to slow down to approximately 3.4% during the first months of the year. In such context, the city aims to achieve a GDP growth 1.3 times higher than the national average in 2020, while fulfilling the budget revenue target.
Since the beginning of the year, he said Hanoi has been focusing on removing business obstacles and attracting investment capital. The city will host a large-scale investment promotion conference on June 27 to take advantage of the shifting of foreign investment in the post-coronavirus period.
The Hanoi leader invited the Lao ambassador to attend the event which he hopes will be a good chance for the business communities of Hanoi and foreign countries, including Laos, to seek and expand cooperation opportunities.
Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang lauded the initial success in the COVID-19 combat Vietnma in general and Hanoi in particular has made, and affirmed he will do his utmost during his working term to promote the relationship between the two countries and their capitals.
