Swedish firm Nokia is set to provide Hanoi with a number of the latest generation body temperature control devices which have the ability to monitor 60 people simultaneously, according to Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

The Hanoi Department of Health has been keen to deploy newly purchased medical equipment as a means of preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus, Chung said, adding that the original procurement package will include the provision of basic equipment for hospitals and other relevant units until March 8.
According to Chung, body temperature scanners in use at Noi Bai International Airport are only able to monitor four people at a time.
Currently, the capital is in discussions with Nokia regarding the possibility that the company are able to provide a number of cutting-edge body temperature control devices which are able to monitor 60 people at the same time.
The municipal leader said that with these new devices, Hanoi will intensify its control over people attending large conferences, adding that the equipment is poised to be installed at an upcoming conference which will be held to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Party Committee.
