Hanoi Giftshow serves as a bridge for exporting Hanoi’s fine art handicraft products
In 2023 alone, the event featured about 450 booths of more than 200 businesses and production facilities from domestic localities and some countries like Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, India, and Nepal. There were about 17,000 visitors, including 5,000 foreign importers, coming and signing business contracts at the event, contributing to the annual export growth rate of the handicraft industry from six to eight percent.
The show is one of the typical activities to boost the export of local fine art handicraft products. With 1,350 craft villages and about 176,000 households involved in this business, the city’s handicraft products are diverse with a wide range of types and beautiful designs, good quality, and competitive in both domestic and international markets. They include apparel, ceramics, traditional woven and embroidered products, wood products, machinery, agricultural processing products, and more, which have been exported to high-end markets, such as Japan, the US, the EU, Dubai, Russia, and several Asian and Southeast Asian countries.
Former Director of Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said Hanoi’s handicrafts have been promoting great traditional values and created their own cultural features. The handicraft products have helped increase the value of industrial production and handicraft industry and services, contributing to the capital’s sustainable socioeconomic development.
In 2024, the city strives to increase the export value of handicraft products by six to eight percent a year, create 650 to 800 new design samples for domestic and international markets, support 600 to 650 businesses to participate in domestic and international trade fairs and about 15 facilities to acquire advanced equipment for production, and enhance the management skills of approximately 2,000-2,500 trainees, who are leaders and managers of rural industrial establishments.
