Hosted by Visa (NYSE: V), a world leader in digital payments, the Visa Vietnam Digital and Risk Executive Forum 2026 brought together leaders from across Vietnam's financial ecosystem to discuss the trends shaping the future of digital commerce and payments, and how risk management is evolving in response to increasingly sophisticated threats, emerging forms of commerce and the accelerating adoption of AI.

The Forum comes at a time when the payments industry undergoes rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence (AI), new forms of digital commerce, evolving digital assets, and increasingly sophisticated fraud threats. Across Asia Pacific, the industrialization of fraud, the rise of AI-enabled attacks and the rapid evolution of digital commerce are challenging traditional approaches to risk management. Against this backdrop, organizations are moving beyond siloed defense mechanisms toward intelligence-led risk management, trusted governance frameworks and deeper ecosystem collaboration. As security becomes increasingly central to customer trust and business performance, managing risk is no longer simply about preventing loss. It is about enabling growth with confidence.

"As Vietnam embraces next-generation commerce, maintaining public trust requires us to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated threats. The opportunity extends beyond simply blocking fraudulent transactions; it is about building payment infrastructures that are resilient by design. Through deep ecosystem collaboration, Visa is committed to providing the secure digital foundations that empower businesses and citizens to participate in the digital economy with confidence in Vietnam," said Ms. Dung Dang, Visa Country Manager for Vietnam and Laos.

Throughout the event, Visa highlighted three strategic shifts shaping the next generation of payment security and financial innovation:

The first shift is the need to outsmart AI-driven fraud through behavioral intelligence. Fraud has evolved beyond isolated criminal activity into increasingly sophisticated operations that leverage automation, artificial intelligence and coordinated networks to scale attacks more rapidly than traditional defenses were designed to address. As fraud becomes more industrialized, organizations need to rethink how they identify and respond to risk.

The next generation of fraud prevention is increasingly being shaped by behavioral intelligence, identity signals and connected data. By moving beyond static controls and rules-based approaches, financial institutions can better detect anomalies, adapt to emerging threats in real time and strengthen trust without compromising customer experience.

Risk management is no longer measured solely by what institutions prevent. Increasingly, it is defined by how effectively organizations can protect customers while enabling seamless and secure digital interactions.

The second shift is preparing for an autonomous and decentralized future. The rise of agentic commerce, AI-powered purchasing journeys, stablecoins, and digital assets is creating new possibilities for commerce and financial services. These developments have the potential to unlock new levels of convenience, efficiency, and economic participation, while also raising important considerations around governance, accountability and consumer protection. As these technologies mature, success will depend on the industry's ability to establish interoperable frameworks that balance innovation with transparency, oversight and consumer protection. Building trusted foundations for emerging forms of commerce will require close collaboration among financial institutions, fintechs, technology providers and policymakers. Ensuring innovation scales responsibly will be critical to maintaining confidence across platforms, payment networks and borders.

Within this evolving landscape, Visa views stablecoins as a strategic innovation with the potential to enable faster, more efficient and programmable ways to move value globally. Reflecting this commitment, Visa recently launched the Visa Stablecoin Platform (VSP), which helps financial institutions and fintechs access, manage and integrate stablecoin capabilities through a secure and scalable environment. Visa is also supporting industry collaboration through initiatives such as Open Standard, which aims to advance trusted and interoperable frameworks for digital money. As the ecosystem continues to evolve, Visa remains committed to partnering with regulators, financial institutions, fintechs and other stakeholders in Vietnam to support the secure and responsible adoption of stablecoin-enabled payment innovations as the market develops.

The third shift is leveraging AI as a catalyst for business growth and transformation. While AI is transforming the threat landscape, it is also becoming a catalyst for enterprise-wide innovation and transformation. The next phase of digital competitiveness will depend on how effectively organizations integrate AI across operations, decision-making and customer engagement. Beyond strengthening security, AI is creating opportunities to improve efficiency, accelerate innovation and deliver more personalized experiences. As businesses navigate an increasingly digital economy, trust, intelligence and resilience are emerging as critical competitive advantages. Organizations that can harness AI responsibly while maintaining customer trust will be better positioned for sustainable growth.

A common theme throughout the Forum was that security and innovation are no longer competing priorities. As AI, digital assets, and new forms of commerce continue to reshape the payments ecosystem, trust, resilience, and intelligence are becoming fundamental enablers of both business performance and customer confidence. Organizations that successfully embed these capabilities into their growth strategies will be best positioned to unlock the opportunities of the next generation of digital commerce.

By bringing together leaders from across the payments ecosystem, the Forum reinforced the importance of collaboration in building resilient digital infrastructure and enabling Vietnam's transition toward a trusted, dynamic and future-ready digital economy.
