Thai Binh parish in Ho Chi Minh City has finally received a large size pine tree after waiting for 45 days for the tree, which stands at a height of 6.5 metres, to be shipped over from the United States for this year’s Christmas celebrations.

The giant pine tree is purchased for VND47 million, equivalent to US$2,043, and attracts the attention of many local people due to its huge size.

The tree represents a special gift given to Thai Binh parish in Go Vap district from a Catholic follower for Christmas this year.

The pine tree originally arrived in the country on December 21.

The root of the pine tree is surrounded by cold ice in order to keep it fresh whilst being transported in the carriage.

Catholic followers join hands as they put up the giant tree and decorate it in anticipation of Christmas Day.

The pine tree can be kept fresh for up to eight weeks.

With all decorations nearly completed, Thai Binh parish is now ready to welcome visitors to celebrate Christmas.
