Fisheries exports in the first four months of this year fell 10% year-on-year to US$2.18 billion, according to the Department of Farm Produce Processing and Market Development at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Both tra fish and shrimp - Vietnam’s two main fisheries products - posted strong declines, of nearly 32% to US$420 million and 12% to US$748 million, respectively.
Japan, the US, the EU, and China were the leading markets, making up almost 58% of total export value.
Exports to Japan and the US saw slight growth in the first quarter but those to the EU and China fell sharply, by over 28% and 27.5%, respectively.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, fisheries exports in 2019 reached over US$8.54 billion, down 2.9% against 2018.
