VOV.VN -The total export value of forestry products enjoyed an annual increase of 18 per cent to US$7.08 billion during the first eight months of the year, accounting for 26.6 per cent of export proportions.

Exports of forestry products rise 18 per cent in eight-month period 

Exports of wood and wooden products were valued at US$6.66 billion, according to the Vietnam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST).

The total export value of forestry products during August reached US$1.031 billion, an increase of 16 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The United States, Japan, the EU, China, and the Republic of Korea were the five largest importers of domestic forestry products, accounting for nearly 80 per cent of the industry’s total export value.

The nation mainly exported wood furniture, wood for construction, plywood, and assembled wood stretcher bars to the US. Simultaneously, exports to Japan covered largely woodchips, wood furniture, wood for construction, plywood, assembled wood stretcher bars, and biomass wood pellets.

Meanwhile, the nation’s key export products to China were woodchips, plywood, furniture products, lumber, and wood for construction.

With significant income from these five major export markets, the total import turnover of wood and wooden products reached US$1.673 billion during August, an on-year rise of 14 per cent. As a result, forestry products gained a trade surplus of over US$5.4 billion.

The major importers of the nation’s wood and wooden products included 10 countries, including China, the US, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, Brazil, New Zealand, and France. These nations accounted for roughly 60 per cent of the overall import value of wood and wooden products.

More than 135,800 hectares of forest has been planted so far in Vietnam, meeting 64 percent of the yearly target.
