Building on the success of the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2022, this event will feature insightful sustainability dialogues, a high-level plenary session, and comprehensive conference sessions, uniting industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability advocates from Europe and Vietnam.
The GEF will be hosted in collaboration with Team Europe partners including the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, the EuroCham Green Growth Sector Committee, all nine EuroCham Vietnam-affiliated European business associations, and an array of European countries.
During the launch press conference held on September 28, newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam Julien Guerrier emphasised, "The GEF is a symbol of the ongoing collaborative efforts between Europe and Vietnam. I believe that such initiatives pave the way for a successful green transition, showcasing the strength of Europe-Vietnam cooperation."
Christoph Prommersberger, deputy head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy to Vietnam, reflected on Vietnam's sustainability goals for 2050. Drawing from Europe's experience, he highlighted the challenges of translating commitments into actionable results.
He pointed to the pivotal role the business community plays in the green transition, especially when navigating new green EU regulations, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. With these considerations, the GEF is positioned to offer Vietnam and its businesses the necessary resources to meet and adapt to evolving global standards.
Dominik Meichle, EuroCham vice-chairman noted, "With Team Europe and EuroCham's combined efforts, there's a mutual vision and collaboration. This is about progressing together towards a more sustainable future, fostering synergies between European and Vietnamese entities."
According to EuroCham, in contrast to 2022, this year's event will not feature an exhibition.
As the world prepares for the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), the GEF offers a timely platform to underscore the significance of eco-conscious strategies and innovation.
By harmonising discussions with the core objectives of COP28 and Vietnam’s National Green Growth Strategy, the event aims to support Vietnam’s sustainability commitments and give its business community the tools it needs to achieve an equitable green economy.
