Seizing opportunities quickly, but firmly

T&T was founded in 1993 and is regarded as one of the first private firms to be launched during a challenging period for the economy in general and businesses in particular. T&T has swiftly acquired a strong position throughout Northern Vietnam in the core business sector of importing and distributing Matsushita Group electrical products with significant brands such as Panasonic, National, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Corporation.

T&T has capitalized on the opportunity by meeting enormous consumer needs while also establishing product reputations, popularizing new technology, and training a team of engineers, accessing modern technology, and making significant contributions to the national budget.

T&T quickly invested in large-scale facilities in Hung Yen, Vietnam, in the late 1990s, to produce engines, motorcycle parts, and motorcycle assembly with a localization rate of up to 80%, in order to support the Government's aim of promoting the expansion of Vietnam’s motorbike industry. T&T Group launched roughly 70,000 motorcycles to the market at the time, with 80% consumed locally and 20% marketed to African and South American markets, creating a brand and reputation for Vietnamese motorcycles.

Imprints in the field of finance and banking

In 2005, T&T aggressively extended its financial sector engagement by contributing funds and becoming a key shareholder of Saigon Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB). SHB has grown to become one of Vietnam's leading commercial banks, with charter capital of 36,194 billion VND - an increase of more than 90,000 times since its inception; total assets of nearly 596,000 billion VND; nearly 11,000 SHB employees working at home and abroad; and serving more than 5 million individual and business customers.  

T&T partnered with Vietnam Coal and Mineral Corporation and Vietnam Rubber Group to set up a number of other financial institutions, including the Saigon-Hanoi Insurance Joint Stock Company (BSH) and the Saigon-Hanoi Securities Joint Stock Company (SHS).

Mr. Do Quang Hien's efforts to seize opportunities, as well as his steadfast determination to implement T&T Group's strategy of expanding investment and participating in the financial sector in 2005, by becoming a major shareholder of Nhon Ai Rural Bank - the predecessor of today's SHB, must be lauded. Furthermore, in 2012, SHB participated in the restructuring of Binh An Seafood JSC, and the M&A of Habubank into SHB is still recognized as one of the rare marks of success in the Vietnamese financial market.

Multi-sectoral strategy and "careful preparation, quick implementation"

T&T has remained firm on the road of combining commercial interests with the growth and advancement of society, as well as the prosperity of the country, even as it has grown to become a prominent multi-industry private enterprise in Vietnam. T&T's charter capital presently stands at 22,000 billion VND, with over 200 member units, 80,000 workers working both locally and internationally, hundreds of thousands of stockholders, and millions of clients. Mr. Do Quang Hien's strategic thought "Prepare carefully, execute quickly" has had the most influence in accomplishing this.

Mr. Do Quang Hien carefully and quickly prepared T&T's multi-sectoral strategy beginning in 2007, when T&T became a private economic group with multiple industries such as real estate; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; consumer trade; energy and environment; developing transport and logistics infrastructure; health and sports...

T&T Group, in particular, has been involved in the equitization and restructuring of inefficient state-owned firms that were once the pride of the country, with the purpose of recovering the brand and increasing the value of these businesses. Just by stating renewable energy, we can see how meticulously Mr. Do Quang Hien had to plan in order to achieve his objectives. When Vietnam was primarily focused on hydropower and coal power roughly 15 years ago, T&T had plans to prepare for investment and development of renewable energy.

"I have always wondered, cherished and researched renewable energy and predicted that Vietnam would also follow this trend, so I researched and proposed cooperation with a number of partners to develop renewable energy," Mr. Hien went on to say.

SHB is one of the leading Joint Stock commercial banks in Vietnam

T&T has invested in solar power and onshore wind power projects totaling over 2,000 MW, with around 1,000 MW linked to the national grid (it is noted that the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has a capacity of 2,400 MW). T&T opted to collaborate with France's Total Group on onshore wind generation. T&T also works with Denmark's Orsted Group to develop offshore wind power.

In terms of the fundamental value that a business gives to the community, Mr. Do Quang Hien stated that it is impossible to succeed and establish long-term value for a firm when engaging in business just for the sake of profit. When we create high-quality goods and services, we safeguard the environment and contribute to green and sustainable growth. Profits will almost certainly follow. To accomplish so,  financial force and experience are required. However, it is critical to rely on technology, digital transformation, and extensive human resource training.

Promoting social responsibility

T&T Group is also renowned as a pioneer in socialization and sports development. T&T Group's Hanoi Football Club consistently supplies many significant players to the Vietnamese national teams, helping to bring glory to Vietnamese football. Furthermore, T&T has sponsored and supported the advancement of sports movements in a variety of locations, including Thai Nguyen, Can Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Nam, and Da Nang. T&T Group is also committed to investing in table tennis, with the goal of taking this Vietnamese sport to a continental level. Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang, two athletes from Hanoi T&T table tennis club, gave glory to Vietnamese table tennis after 26 years when they won the Gold Medal in the mixed doubles event at the 32nd SEA Games.

Furthermore, T&T is continually associated with social responsibility initiatives, ancestral gratitude, etc. T&T Group, in particular, is honored and happy to have been assigned by the leaders of the Party, State, and Nghe An province to supervise, research, design, and construct a plan to protect, repair, and promote the significance of President Ho Chi Minh's memorial site at Nam Dan, Nghe An. The People's Committee of Nghe An Province and T&T Group, in particular, planned the launch of the Cultural Tourism Area project and the 9-story Waterfall project in Nam Dan, Nghe An, next to the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, President Ho Chi Minh's mother.

T&T Group has been selected by Quang Tri province to survey, plan, and deploy the building of Quang Tri airport in order to serve as a driving force for future growth in this region. T&T Group was also honored to fund the development of a lighting and sound system at Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, Special National Monuments of Quang Tri Citadel, and Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Monument..

Every year, T&T Group spends hundreds of billions of dong to help alleviate difficulties for the poor and people facing natural disasters; provide large financial support to build thousands of houses of gratitude and great solidarity for the poor and people with meritorious services to the revolution; build schools; award scholarships to poor students to sow seeds and light up dreams for future generations; take care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, repair and embellish historical cultural works across the country... Typically, during the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, T&T Group, SHB, and other firms in T&T's ecosystem contributed more than 1,500 billion VND to epidemic preventive efforts.
