The announcement ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Health on cooperation in developing effective and sustainable medical tourism in the 2025-2030 period.

Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate to maximise the potential, advantages and resources of the medical and tourism sectors, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country in the new era.

In particular, efforts will be made to build the brand of Viet Nam as a destination with prestigious tourism and medical services in the region and the world, increasing the attraction of domestic and international tourists to use tourism services and medical services at medical examination and treatment facilities in Viet Nam.

The two sides will cooperate to build a system linking medical services with tourism and resort services to attract tourists and promote Viet Nam’s potential and advantages in medicine; create favourable conditions for implementing a model of tourism services combined with medical services to improve the capacity to provide medical tourism services associated with tourism development.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Health will coordinate to develop, advise, propose, and submit to competent authorities to issue policies to facilitate tourism businesses to access medical examination and treatment facilities providing quality medical services; at the same time, support medical facilities to develop strategies and specific service packages to attract tourists to use medical services; direct medical examination and treatment facilities under their management to strengthen human resource training and raise awareness of tourism and health.

The tourism industry expands and encourages health care tourism services to connect with medical facilities in tourism service establishments and specialised activities; The health sector increases investment in high-quality services, connects with travel businesses to attract foreigners to Viet Nam for medical examination and treatment.

The tourism industry also promotes annual tourism promotion programmes, focusing on coordinating with medical examination and treatment facilities to introduce Vietnam's medical strengths such as: Traditional medicine, high-quality and specialised medical examination and treatment services, etc.

The health sector will coordinate with the tourism sector to develop content to introduce the quintessence of Vietnamese medicine, suitable medical tourism service packages and participate in domestic and foreign tourism promotion programmes.

At the signing ceremony, the two Ministries together with their units, committed to implementing coordination contents, ensuring the tourism and health sectors develop effectively and sustainably, while actively contributing to the country’s development in the new era.
