Attending the signing ceremony on December 4 were Huynh Tan Dat, general director of the Plant Protection Department, Tran Minh Tien, president of the Soils and Fertilisers Institute, Tran Ngoc Thanh Truc, managing director of Yara Vietnam, and other relevant units.

The three parties recognise the importance of the cooperation and their combined strengths, aiming to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural production by adapting to climate change.

They will work together to develop sustainable crop production models, with priority given to the application of appropriate crop nutrition management solutions. The focus will be on five aspects of fertilisers, including appropriate usage based on soil and plant type, the right dosage, the correct timing, and the best application methods. Furthermore, they will implement a combination of organic and inorganic fertilisers.

The first project will involve organic fertiliser for sustainable durian production in Dak Nong province.

The three entities will jointly develop and recommend solutions on farming techniques, crop and soil health management, and crop nutrition to improve the productivity and quality of agricultural products, increasing the income of farmers and the safety of producers and consumers as they contribute to sustainable agriculture and carbon emissions reductions.

Dat said, "Each plant and soil type in various areas will need different fertilisation and care. I hope the three parties will cooperate closely to research and deploy the most appropriate methods for the pilot model in Dak Nong province, before replicating it in other locations."

Truc added, "As a leading international corporation in fertiliser production and the application of technology in sustainable agricultural development, Yara Vietnam Co., Ltd. will strengthen its training activities to improve the capacity of farmers. It will provide support and share its knowledge and experience on farming techniques, crop and soil health, and nutrition."

Specific activities will be discussed and planned in detail each year before they are expanded to other key crops in different regions, depending on the actual conditions. In addition, Yara Vietnam also proposed the possibility of coordinating with the research and development department of Yara in Asia and Africa to implement other projects related to sustainable agricultural development in Vietnam.

Tien stated, "We hope to promote collaboration between the institute and businesses like Yara to deploy more sustainable agricultural projects in the country."
