Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla stated his appreciation for Vietnam’s efforts in containing the COVID-19pandemic and maintaining economic growth during the May 8 phone talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

During the phone conversation, the two diplomats discussed cooperation between the two nations amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Minh conveyed the greetings of Vietnamese Party, State, and Government leaders to their Cuban counterparts and affirmed that Vietnam always stands shoulder to shoulder with Cuba.
The Cuban FM, for his part, affirmed his nation’s recognition of importance Cuba to the special, time-honoured relationship with Vietnam
Both sides applauded solidarity and support between the two countries in combating the disease and shared experience in this regard as well as orientations and policies on post-COVID-19 economic recovery and social welfare.
They also showed their determination to tighten the bilateral relationship and effectively and comprehensively implement the agenda on bilateral cooperation this year and the celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
They consented to further enhance collaboration, coordination, and offer mutual support at multilateral forums, especially when Vietnam serves as ASEAN Chair 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.
