A coastal road, expanded at a cost of VND1.3 trillion ($56 million), allows passers-by a breathtaking view of world heritage site Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam. 

The expansion of Tran Quoc Nghien Road in Ha Long Town, Quang Ninh Province, connecting Bai Tho Bridge and the Ha Long – Cam Pha coastal road, completed in May 2020.

The 4.7-km coastal road runs parallel with Ha Long Bay, offering tourists a visual feast of the world-famous bay.

The road now boasts six lanes, a five-meter-wide pavement and a 28-meter-wide park, ideal for exercising, entertainment activities and taking in the breathtaking sight of Ha Long Bay.

Around an hour and a half away from capital city Hanoi, Ha Long Bay was recognized as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO in 1994, and voted among the world’s seven new natural wonders by Swiss organization New Open World in 2011.

An area along the bank includes swings and climbing frames geared toward kids.

At the end of the road is Hon Gai public beach with a length of 900 m and a width of nearly 100 m. On completion, it will be the first public beach in Hon Gai area of Ha Long Town.

Tran Quoc Nghien Road also connects to other famous tourist sites like Quang Ninh Museum, Library, October 30 Square and Ha Long Flower Park.
