Aspiration to make Vietnam an Asia-Pacific “Digital Hub”

The draft information and communication infrastructure plan for the 2021-2030 period, developed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, stated a development requirement that Vietnam become a "Digital Hub" - a place to transmit, connect, store and process data of the region and the world by 2030. In the spirit of “Storing Vietnamese data in Vietnam”, CMC has invested in building a modern data center system to synchronize and complete the national digital infrastructure.

Accordingly, the inauguration and operation of CMC Data Center Tan Thuan (DC Tan Thuan) in June 2022 has enabled the corporation to improve its capacity of providing digital infrastructure services and digital transformation for government, official and corporate customers. DC Tan Thuan brings better connectivity and services for customers with 1,200 high-capacity network racks, with an individual rack capacity of 20kw in an area of 10,000 square meters. This data center, designed by B-Barcelona Singapore, complies with the strictest standards for a modern data center and is the first and only data center in Vietnam to be certified Uptime Tier III for both design and construction.

CMC Telecom now owns three data centers, the first data centers in Vietnam to have the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) payment security certificate for the financial and banking sector operated by well-trained experts and technicians who have earned international certificates such as CDCE, CDCS, CDCP and CDFOM.

In addition to technology infrastructure, education investment is also an approach of CMC to turn Vietnam into the "Digital Hub" of the Asia-Pacific region. On July 26, 2022, CMC University was established with the philosophy of enlightening, innovating, differentiating and building high-quality human resources and taking the lead in some sci-tech fields in the world. The university is designed to become a "smart, innovative university" in the 2022-2032 period and a "research university" after 2032. Its top goals are to become a technology university that teaches the expertise needed for the country’s technology development and digital economy. It plans to train 20,000 - 30,000 students by 2039. This is also the "digital aspiration" importantly stated in CMC’s development journey.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, President of the Board of Directors / Executive President of CMC Corporation, said that in 2021-2025, CMC aims to become a global firm with billions of US dollars in revenue and more than 10,000 employees. The group will be consistent with the path to become a digital transformation service provider and consultant in Vietnam to help domestic firms and organizations conduct successful digital transformation, shape the cloud computing service market and new SaaS (software as a service) and stand among the top in the network security market.
