Li ShaoHui, vice president of JA Solar, disclosed the information at a meeting with Bac Ninh authorities last Wednesday.
Solar cell manufacturing is one of the three projects invested by JA Solar in the province. Other projects of manufacturing silicon rods, silicon wafers, and high-efficiency photovoltaic cells are running stably, he added.
The executive suggested Bac Ninh authorities help the firm resume the manufacturing of solar cells, in order to approach the Southeast Asian market.
In reply, Bac Ninh Chairman Pham Hoang Son lauded JA Solar's investment which improved the province's employment and state budget revenues. Regarding solar cell, he said the province is willing to work with JA Solar towards stable operation, sustainable development, and expansion.
He noted that provincial tax authorities will work with JA Solar to support the firm regarding the higher tax payment in line with the Global Minimum Tax (GMT) mechanism.
China-based JA Solar, among the biggest solar energy cell firms in the world, earned a revenue of $2.8 billion from its activities in Vietnam in 2023.
Its activities in Bac Ninh province are located in industrial parks within the former Bac Giang province which was merged with Bac Ninh last July.
