The inaugural train, carrying 700 tonnes of plywood, departed from the Nanning International Railway Port in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and arrived at Yen Vien Station in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Trade between China and ASEAN continues to deepen, fuelling demand for cross-border logistics. Rail transport is gaining popularity among cross-border traders due to its capacity for large-volume shipments, environmental benefits, year-round operability, and lower cargo loss rates.

Yang Kaiwei, deputy general director of the China Post Group's subsidiary in Guangxi, noted that previously, cross-border shipments were primarily transported by road. The new rail service cuts travel time by approximately 26 hours, offering a more efficient and convenient logistics solution for manufacturers.

Since the beginning of the year, the China – Vietnam rail route starting from Guangxi has transported 14,556 standard containers, a 314% year-on-year increase. The route has handled 366 types of goods sourced from 25 provinces, autonomous regions, and centrally governed cities across China. The freight is destined for ASEAN countries including Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.
