The agreement was reached during a meeting on electricity supply and future grid expansion to support the province's socio-economic growth, chaired by Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dao My.
The event was attended by EVN deputy CEO Ngo Son Hai; Nguyen Thanh, chairman of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC); and representatives from National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3), and other EVN subsidiaries, as well as National Power System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO).
According to reports presented at the meeting, Dak Lak's power system has met electricity demand for socio-economic development and residential consumption. The national power grid now reaches 100% of villages and hamlets across the province, while 99.91% of households have access to electricity.
Dak Lak Power Company currently supplies electricity to 971,371 customers. During the first six months of 2026, the province's peak electricity load reached 818.6 MW, up 22% from 2025, while commercial electricity sales exceeded 2.078 billion kWh, an increase of 12.02% from the same period last year.
Between 2021 and 2025, EVNCPC completed hundreds of power grid projects in the province with total investment of nearly VND3.9 trillion ($148.66 million). During the 2026-2030 period, the corporation plans to invest over VND4.32 trillion ($164.82 million) to further develop Dak Lak's electricity network, focusing on 110-kV transmission facilities and distribution grids to meet rising demand, improve supply reliability, and support local economic development.
Under the revised PDP8, total installed generation capacity in Dak Lak is projected to reach around 10,611 MW by 2030, many times higher than current demand. Participants at the meeting therefore focused on measures to ensure synchronous development of generation and transmission infrastructure, enabling efficient power evacuation, safe system operation, and optimal use of investment resources.
Addressing the meeting, My called on EVN, EVNNPT and EVNCPC to conduct a comprehensive review of power generation and grid planning, and to prepare a consolidated list of ongoing and planned projects in the province to promptly remove obstacles.
He stressed that power system development should ensure synchronization between generation and transmission, with grid staying one step ahead and aligned with both provincial development priorities and the national power development plan.
My also urged EVN to prioritize investment in electricity infrastructure serving industrial parks, logistics hubs, key growth areas and regions that continue to face power supply constraints.
To strengthen coordination, the province agreed in principle to establish a joint working group on power development, led by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and involving EVN, EVNNPT and EVNCPC, to promptly address issues arising during the implementation of power projects, he stated.
Responding to the province's proposals, Hai said EVN would instruct its subsidiaries to review and update planning schemes while accelerating investment in transmission projects under the revised PDP8, ensuring balanced development of both generation and grid infrastructure.
The utility will also step up coordination with local authorities on investment preparation, land clearance and project implementation to support the province's socio-economic development, he added.
Meanwhile, Thanh said EVNCPC would continue working closely with local authorities during the implementation of power projects, proactively coordinating with relevant agencies to resolve bottlenecks, mobilize resources, and accelerate investment in grid infrastructure to enhance electricity supply capacity and meet the province's development needs.
Concluding the meeting, My urged provincial departments, agencies and local authorities to work closely with EVN and its subsidiaries to expedite investment procedures, land acquisition and the implementation of key power generation and transmission projects.
He also called for stronger coordination mechanisms to resolve emerging issues in a timely manner, helping ensure the effective implementation of the revised PDP8, maintain a safe and reliable electricity supply, and support Dak Lak's socio-economic development in the years ahead.
