The health sector in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has swiftly moved to quarantine five people who had been displaying symptoms of fever and cough after recently returning from areas that have been hit by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, according to a report released by the Can Tho City Department of Health.

The department noted that these people will remain under strict monitoring at health facilities located in the city whilst they wait for the test results.

The report states that on March 3 two flights carrying 342 passengers from the Republic of Korea landed at Can Tho International Airport with relevant forces deciding to conduct medical examinations for all passengers and put them into a quarantine area in line with regulations set by the health sector.

The Can Tho Department of Health said that the Can Tho Military School located in O Mon district have put a total of 303 people into isolation with each person set to have their body temperature measured twice each day.

At present, Can Tho International Airport has welcomed eight flights arriving from the Republic of Korea, with the total number of people in quarantine reaching over 1,000.

All passengers that arrived in the nation on these flights have been put into quarantine at Military Schools in Can Tho, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.
