The event marked the beginning of a nationwide public communication campaign aimed at raising awareness and equipping people with the skills to identify and combat misinformation at a time when artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping the digital information landscape.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, director of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention, said that artificial intelligence is transforming the way people create, access, and disseminate information.

He warned that the greatest concern lies not only in the growing volume of fake news and misleading content, but also in the increasingly blurred line between truth and falsehood. What people see, hear, or read online can no longer be assumed to be true.

According to Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, no technology can ever fully replace human judgement and critical thinking. Nor can any tool or authority verify the millions of pieces of content created and shared across cyberspace every day.

The most fundamental solution, he said, is to foster a culture of verification throughout society, encouraging every citizen to develop the habit of checking sources, cross-referencing information, and thinking carefully before believing, sharing, or acting upon any piece of information.

With the message 'Verify Before You Trust', the campaign is expected to establish a broad collaborative network bringing together government agencies, news organisations, technology companies, digital platforms, social organisations, content creators, and the public to build a healthy information ecosystem in which the truth spreads faster and public trust is founded on verification.

At the event, Nguyen Thanh Lam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and Director General of Viet Nam Television, highlighted the importance of digital citizenship skills in distinguishing fact from falsehood and preventing the spread of misinformation.

Introducing the 'True or False – Fact Check' bulletin, the leader of Viet Nam Television said the programme will be broadcast daily at 7:55 p.m. on VTV1. It will provide verified information, analyse issues attracting public attention, expose the methods used to fabricate and spread false information, and equip audiences with practical fact-checking skills through concise, accessible, and visually engaging formats.

One of the event's highlights was the panel discussion 'Building a Verification Mindset in the AI Era', featuring representatives from government agencies, experts, technology companies, journalists, and content creators. Speakers shared their perspectives on the challenges AI poses to today's information environment, as well as the responsibilities of all stakeholders in creating a transparent and trustworthy digital ecosystem.
