President Bolsonaro also applauded the country’s various achievements in recent years, asking Ambassador Hoa to pass on his greetings to Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong before graciously accepted an invitation to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time in the future. The Brazilian leader urged the Vietnamese ambassador to make practical contributions to fostering a fruitful and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
For her part, Ambassador Hoa said the country places importance on co-operation with the South American nation across multiple sectors and expressed her elation at the increasingly close relationship between both countries.
This comes after diplomatic ties were established more than three decades ago, with a particular highlight coming in 2007 when a comprehensive partnership was established.
Despite complex developments relating to the novel coronavirus epidemic, two-way trade still reached US$1.6 billion during the first five months of the year, the Vietnamese diplomat emphasised, adding that Vietnam ranks second among Asian nations that have established trade ties with Brazil.
Ambassador Hoa expressed her hope that both sides will share experience and co-operate in the ongoing fight against the pandemic.
As the ASEAN Chair and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Vietnam will serve as a bridge between Brazil and the rest of Southeast Asia.
The Vietnamese diplomat suggested that both nations continue their close co-ordination and mutual support at multilateral and regional forums, enhance delegation exchanges, in addition to stepping up collaboration in a range of fields, saying she hopes the bilateral relationship is able to grow and flourish moving forward.
