Nearly 11,000 tons of lychees from Bac Giang have been shipped to the U.S. and Japan as the northern province has entered its peak harvest.
The above figure accounts for nearly 35 percent of the locality’s total lychee output as of June 3. The rest have been consumed domestically.
According to a report by the provincial People’s Committee, the total lychee farming area is estimated at 28,100 hectares this year, with the output expected to hit 180,000 tons.
The area of lychees grown under VietGAP standards stands at over 15,200 hectares, alongside 82 hectares following GlobalGAP standards.
As Bac Giang is still the epicenter of the fourth COVID-19 wave, the local authorities have deployed a string of measures to ensure safe business production, including safe lychee harvest.
Since May 29, the province has administered 99,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, including over 33,000 doses on June 3 alone./.
