Tan Yen’s early-ripening lychee is a well-known specialty of Bac Giang Province and Tan Yen District. This year, the total lychee cultivation area in Tan Yen spans 1,375 hectares, with an estimated output of 15,500 tonnes, an increase of 500 tonnes compared to 2024. Of this area, 1,250 hectares are early-ripening lychees, with an expected yield of about 15,000 tonnes.

The district maintains 900 hectares of lychee orchards that meet food safety standards. Within this area, 455 hectares are certified under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. There are currently 33 planting area codes for export, including 30 existing and 3 newly issued codes, covering a total of 1,036 hectares designated for export to markets such as China, Japan, the EU, Thailand, and Australia.

The early-ripening lychee harvest in Tan Yen typically begins in late May, peaks in early June, and is expected to conclude by around June 15. According to Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Tan Yen District People’s Committee, the 2025 early-ripening lychee crop has been well received for its outstanding quality, assured food safety, traceability, and continued consumer trust.

Local authorities at all levels are committed to creating the most favourable conditions to support growers, businesses, and traders in harvesting, packaging, and distributing lychees. Inspections will be conducted to ensure that Tan Yen’s early-ripening lychees meet the highest export standards of demanding markets such as Japan, the EU, and Australia.

According to the Tan Yen District People’s Committee, more than 30 memoranda of understanding and contracts for lychee production and sales have been signed to date. Additionally, five cooperation agreements have been reached for the development of tourism products, routes, and destinations in Tan Yen District with travel companies and tour operators.

Nguyen Duc Hung, Director of Toan Cau Food Import-Export JSC, a company specialising in processing and exporting agricultural products to Japan, Europe, the US, and Australia, shared that the company has worked closely with cooperatives in Tan Yen in recent years to develop raw material areas meeting GlobalGAP standards, thus ensuring export-quality produce. This year, the company plans to increase its purchase volume of Tan Yen lychees to serve orders from Japan, the US, and Australia.
