The Temple of Literature in Hanoi is hosting a photo exhibition featuring the winners of the Vietnam Art Photo Contest 2020, aiming to introduce a range of outstanding artworks to local and international audiences alike.

An awards ceremony for the Vietnam Art Photo Contest 2020 is held on October 14 ahead of the launch of the exhibition. The event has been jointly organised by the Department of Art, Photography, and Exhibitions under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong says the biennial contest offers the chance to review activities which have taken place on the Vietnamese photography scene in recent years.

The past four months has seen organisers receive approximately 12,000 entries from over 1,600 photographers nationwide. Of the submissions, 238 are selected for display at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

The leading 33 artworks are granted awards.

A total of three gold medals are awarded. A photo titled Không ngừng phát triển, (Constant development), taken by Huynh Pham Anh Dung from Ho Chi Minh City, wins a gold medal.

A photo with the theme of Nhiệm vụ HVN68, (Mission HVN68), by Nong Viet Linh from Hanoi secures a gold medal.

Another gold medal is given to the artwork titled Ở nhà tránh dịch, (Stay home from COVID-19), taken by Le Tue from Ho Chi Minh City.

A silver medal is awarded to Thảm họa môi trường, (Environmental disaster), snapped by Nguyen Van Dung from Ho Chi Minh City.

Five other silver medals are also awarded to entrants, including a photo titled Bóng đá nữ Việt Nam vô địch SEA Games 2019, (Female Vietnamese footballers crowned SEA Games 2019 champions), taken by Nguyen Tien Anh Tuan from Hanoi.

A photo captured by Nguyen Ngoc Hoa from Gia Lai province is given a bronze medal.

The organisers also award eight bronze medals, in addition to 11 consolation prizes.

The exhibition is scheduled to last until October 23.
