The draft Decree detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Drug Prevention and Control, drafted by the Ministry of Public Security, provides that the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department is the specialized agency of the GDVC for drug-related crime prevention.

One of the notable contents in the draft Decree is the regulation on specialized and standing agencies to coordinate in the prevention and control of drug-related crimes.
Accordingly, agencies in charge of drug-related crime prevention and control include:
The agencies in charge of drug-related crime prevention and control under the People's Public Security include: the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security; the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes of provinces or centrally run cities; the Investigation Police Team on Drug-related Crimes of districts, towns, provincial cities and centrally-run cities.
The specialized agencies under the Border Guard include: the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Department under the Border Guard Command of the Ministry of National Defense; the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Division; the Crime and Drug Prevention and Control Task Force under Border Guard Commands of provinces and centrally run cities.
The Coast Guard Police agencies tasked to prevent and combat drug-related crimes are the Department of Professional Affairs and Law, the Drug-Related Crime Prevention and Control Task Forces under the Coast Guard Command and the Ministry of National Defense; Drug-Related Crime Prevention and Control Department under the Coast Guard Regions.
Agencies specialized in combating drug-related crimes under the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) are the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department; the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team under provincial and inter-provincial and municipal customs departments.
The standing regulatory agencies include the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes (under the Ministry of Public Security); the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Department (under the Border Guard Command); Department of Professional Affairs and Law (under the Coast Guard Command) and the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (under the GDVC).
These agencies perform tasks of regulating coordination among agencies specialized in drug-related crime prevention and control.
