Le made the above statement at a press briefing on Thursday when she was asked about Viet Nam’s response to reports saying that China planned to send a research vessel named after 'Sun Yat-sen University' to the Hoang Sa archipelago.

As having been affirmed multiple times, Viet Nam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and its legal rights over Vietnamese waters as defined in line with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982 UNCLOS), the Spokesperson affirmed.
