The Institute for Business Informatics - ITB was established under Decision No. 0026/PTM - TCCB dated January 6, 2005 of the President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, formerly the KT01 Financial Management Support Program for Enterprises (established on August 1, 1999) with the function of supporting enterprises in applying software in financial and accounting management. On October 31, 2000, due to expanded functions, the Program was upgraded to the Center for Promotion and Development of Enterprise Software - VSDC. On January 6, 2005, marking an important development milestone, the operating model was officially changed to the Institute for Business Informatics (ITB).
The main activities of ITB include: Organizing investigations, research, and surveys on the application of information technology (IT) in enterprises to report and propose solutions and policies to promote the development and application of IT in Vietnam; organizing conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and forums to promote, introduce, and exchange information to develop and apply IT in Vietnamese enterprises.
In addition, ITB also organizes the compilation and publication of documents and specialized magazines on IT application development; organizes training courses, exams and grants certificates on IT applications, e-commerce, and online business for organizations, businesses and individuals in need. Consulting and supporting businesses in choosing solutions and applying IT to production and business activities; providing or acting as an agent for domestic and foreign manufacturers of IT products and services.
In addition, ITB also cooperates with authorities, organizations, and enterprises to develop and apply IT; build, manage, and develop economic information network systems and e-commerce transactions for Vietnamese enterprises. Organize study groups, surveys, and trade promotion in the fields of IT, e-commerce, and online business. Build and develop IT applications to serve the activities of VCCI.
During its operation, ITB has achieved many outstanding achievements such as: From 1999 - 2005, researched and successfully developed the ACsoft accounting software solution; from 2005 - 2010, successfully implemented Project 191 "Supporting enterprises in applying IT to serve integration and development" with the participation of over 50 provinces and cities. From 2006 - 2010: Successfully implemented Project 222 "Program for popularization, propaganda and training on e-commerce" with the participation of over 20 provinces and cities. From 2011 - present: Implemented many Projects to support enterprises in applying IT, e-commerce, finance and banking.
In addition, the Institute also deploys financial - accounting solutions (ACsoft, VietSun accounting software) for about 10,000 enterprises; deploys electronic invoice and digital signature services for over 10,000 enterprises; deploys electronic contract services for over 1,000 enterprises. Deploys human resource and sales management software for 2,000 enterprises; provides cloud data services for over 1,000 enterprises; provides digital transformation consulting for over 10,000 SMEs.
Build and maintain 20 local e-commerce platforms (B2B and B2C). Organize 30 - 50 seminars, conferences, and talks nationwide every year; 150 - 200 training courses for businesses.
Regarding publications (books, monographs): Survey report on the current status of digital transformation in SMEs, Survey report on the level of e-commerce application in enterprises and handicraft villages, Report on the results of the investigation on the current status of implementing electronic tax services.
In addition, ITB also successfully implemented the Project "Sustainable and comprehensive development of the value chain of Clams and Bamboo in Vietnam", focusing on 05 provinces: Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh (Clam value chain) and Thanh Hoa, Nghe Anh (Bamboo value chain). The project contributes to reducing poverty and inequality in rural areas of Vietnam.
At the same time, we initiated and coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to organize the "Make in Vietnam" digital technology product award. The award aims to honor outstanding digital technology products designed, created and manufactured in Vietnam, with practical value recognized in the development of the digital economy, digital government and digital society.
